Flyout

Build and fly realistic aircraft. Use free-form fuselage and wing editor tools and tune your engines to recreate aircraft from any era or design your own.

Flyout is a game centered around aircraft construction, prioritizing creative design and authentic physics, accompanied by realistic sound effects. Utilize the game’s modeling tools to fashion aircraft of diverse shapes, customize engines to suit your requirements, configure control surfaces, and embark on a test flight across a procedurally generated planet of Earth’s dimensions.

The editor tools encompass features such as a freeform fuselage editor, wing editor, material and texture settings, paint tools with the option to import custom decals, as well as customizable turbines, ramjets, piston engines, and electric motors. Additionally, users can configure propellers and rotors, connecting them to engines through gearboxes, and tailor landing gear and control surface inputs. The game also provides options for fly-by-wire settings, basic cockpit interior components, and the ability to import reference images for replication. Modding support currently facilitates the import of .obj models and textures.

In terms of simulation, elements such as wing shape, span, and sweep significantly influence flight behavior. Fuselage drag is determined by its shape, and the game incorporates engine simulation, altering aircraft sounds based on design. A realistic atmosphere model is in place, complete with wind, turbulence, vertical draft, and ground effect.

Flyout poses a challenge, lacking in-game tutorials, and offering limited tooltips due to its Early Access status. Fuselage editing resembles 3D modeling in standard software, albeit simplified. Bugs may be encountered due to the extensive freedom provided by the editor and the game’s Early Access stage. A fundamental grasp of aircraft physics and flight controls is either necessary or strongly recommended for an optimal gaming experience.
